Hey hey, and welcome to our new subscribers who joined over the past couple weeks. It’s great to have you in our Tiny, Bold Kingdom. It feels more like a hamlet. But this is no small, provincial town!
We’re pushing the limits of our comfort zone, one tiny, bold move at a time. All of it to ignite our purpose. We call our purpose-driven work: The Glow. As we glow, allies appear to support us. We’re all in this together, and I’m grateful for you.
Last week was about self-trust. That is a big topic for most of us. You can find that here: First idea, best idea.
Hell yeah, you will.
A few of us published our first Substack pieces this week. Maybe we made other tiny, bold moves. When I ask, “what will you do to celebrate?” I hear crickets and see you blinking. We don’t consider how big a move that was, so we assume there’s no party until we achieve X, Y, or Z. But I didn’t ask you to throw a party. I’m asking you to see yourself, in your bold act of creation. Publishing the thing. Inviting the world into your dream.
Wintering is a great time for our deepest, darkest sort of navel gazing. Should you find yourself wondering what is it all for, carrying around a human skull like King Lear, you may want to relax your grip. Part of my job as coach is to remind you to chill. This is Permission 1 in my book for good reason. Girl, chill. It quells the over-thinking. Once the mind is quiet we can be fully in the work, versus judging or waiting.
Golf pro Chubbs Peterson reminded Happy Gilmore: “It’s all in the hips!” Wintering can feel more intense than it needs to. This is just our “I must get this right!” crap with a dash of cabin fever. It will feel delicate, pushing your vital little dream into public view. But don’t let that squash your purpose.
When you’re making art, writing your book, launching your business— your purpose is between you and your Creator. You don’t need to justify it, or get it right. Just answering the call to creation is oh, so right. You’re already doing it, and the world is better off because of your noble effort.
That thing you really want to finally do this year? Already doing it. What if you stop telling yourself “I only get credit when X, Y, or Z”? The ball is in motion. It’s a little scary, and it’s really important. It’s crucial to notice your micro-wins, even if they don’t feel like big milestones.
I think of EVE in the film Wall-E. Fiercely protecting a fragile little plant— which represents the survival of humanity. Our tiny, bold move today is simple: “I’m already doing this.” Give yourself full credit. A responsible shepherd of awesomeness. That is enough. You have always been enough. It kicks so much ass because your heart is in it. We feel that. Will you have the rest of your life to keep improving on it? Yes. Because you’re blessed, and we need you to keep showing up.
It’s time to practice.
Deepen your awareness.
The Neil Diamond song “Hell Yeah” showed up late in his career, on the album 12 Songs. Rick Rubin produced it. There’s no set refrain to the chorus, so Neil keeps dropping wisdom bombs in every line. He’s looking back on his epic life. In which he: “…found the life that he was after, filled it up with love and laughter, finally got it right, and made it fit…”
But it’s the second pre-chorus and chorus we need right now.
Get deeply present. Close your eyes, and take a couple slow breaths. Let the words: “I am already doing this” scroll across the screen of your consciousness. When you’re ready, read and receive Neil’s reminder:
I hear you wondering out loud
Am I ever gonna make it?
Will I ever work it out?
Will you ever take a chance— and just believe you can?
Hell yeah, you will
You’re gonna be OK
You might get lost
But then you’ll find a way
Don’t go alone.
You can be afraid
Hell yeah, this life is here
And it’s made for living
Love’s a gift that’s made for giving
You’ll give it all away, and have it still
Hell yeah, you will.
- Neil Diamond, Hell Yeah
